From Concept to Creation: A Night of Art, Poetry, and Community!

What an incredible evening presenting original art and poetry at Hilltop! The students’ talent, creativity, and heart filled the space, and one of the sweetest moments was seeing the immense pride in the parents’ eyes as they admired their children’s work.

The idea for this event was born during discussions on educational programs at the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA). One of the great benefits of NAWA for educators is the opportunity to have their work showcased when they use a prompt inspired by NAWA and bridge professional artistry with meaningful educational experiences. Seeing this concept come to life, with young talents shining and important conversations continuing, was truly inspiring.

The big surprise? The outstanding quality of the art—stunning mixed media pieces and handmade paper adorned with poetry, transforming the library into a space of deep expression. I was honored to share my own mixed media piece, created for this event, and to guide students through the techniques behind it.

A true highlight was the presence of Natalia Koren Kropf, whose 40 years of mastery in the field left a lasting impression. Both of us are proud NAWA members, where Natalia, a former president, serves on the board, and I lead Educational Projects.

It’s amazing to see ideas take shape, talents be showcased, and creative dialogue continue. Grateful for everyone who made this evening so special!
